Planted Bloomington is a food truck with a vision
“Animal agriculture creates more greenhouse gas emissions than all transportation combined. Yet, as individuals we’re often told ‘you should take public transportation and ride bikes,’ all of which are good things but not very frequently are we told, ‘let’s reduce our consumption of animal products, and that will have a tremendous impact on the environment.’
This week on the show, Toby Foster talks with the creators of Planted, a local plant-based food truck and catering operation in Bloomington, Indiana. We learn about their inventive, plant-based menu and their commitment to sustainable practices.
We have an interview with Julie Guthman about the troubled strawberry industry and we wrap up the show with a recipe for pickled carrots.

When Justin Carney’s grandmother was alive, his family would get together all the time. His mom and aunt and uncles loved being around their mother - and each other. Justin was in college at the time, studying art, and focusing on photography. He started taking pictures o...

The way that our bodies are treated and problematized and pathologized, we’re often taught that it’s our fault, that it’s our problem to fix or we just need to love our bodies out of societal oppression.” This week on the show a conversation with dietitian and author Jessica Wilson about her...

Iowa covers up all of the staff they allowed to resign after being caught raping inmates. Officer Glenda Glasgow even gave birth to a son fathered by the inmate she raped. William Sperfslage was the warden who allowed many members of his staff to get away with raping inmates at the Anamosa State Penitentiary.

Soooo. I actually believe I have seen one. I live in Michigan and when I was a young teen I spent a lot f time in the outdoors. The Flint river was within I'd say 1000 yards from where I grew up. One day while exploring I looked under a pile of downed trees over a bank in the river. In the darkness I could make out the silhouette of a gigantic turtle. Easily 500lbs. Even though I was very familiar with turtles, of course I thought there was no way that was what I was seeing because it was massive. I'd say the head had roughly the same mass as two basketballs, nevermind the shell. So I chalked it up to logs half submerged that just made that same shape as a turtle. But, a few months later I watched an episode of Wild America on PBS and Marty Stouffer actually caught a very large turtle in what I thought was the same region in a similar looking river. This got me wondering if what I saw was really a turtle. Thank goodness I figured it wasn't real because I would have poked at it, and would have tried to catch it. As I came home more than once with 50 lbs+ snapping turtles. My dad would take the hedge clippers to it's head and we had turtle soup. Disclaimer: these turtles were from spring fed creeks not the very polluted Flint river at the time.

I am a vet and joint my local post. They beg you to become an officer. Then when I became an officer, I quickly seen the 3 or 4 Boomers who keep the 3 officer positions locked down for decades, ( finance in particular) and none of the red decisions made and acted upon were VOTED on by officers, I got sick of wasting my time being ignored. I also got tired of doing Honor Guard and flag raising for a local community that uses vets as props and to self validate their virtue signaling while voting to destroy all we cherish and represent, and vote to neglect our needs. I am sick of it. The Legion will not see my membership renewal because they do not deserve it by default alone.

Marine Vietnam veteran here and I don't feel a bit sorry for the VFW. When I came home I wanted to join the local VFW post and the few WW1 veterans, WW2, and Korean vets told me to leave that Vietnam wasn't a real war and they didn't want druggies, baby killers, and losers dirtying up their post. What's funny is now they want me. The VFW can kiss my ass I'm now a member of the American Legion local post in my small town.

I've had so many surgeries and so much Hardware in my body I'm only 43 years old and Fentanyl helps me get around every day now I'm not condoning anybody to use it by any means my own mother would be in 2014 but I mean if it wasn't for the crisis being fentanyl now instead of painkillers from the doctors I don't know what I do for my pain because these doctors don't want to give you anything for pain anymore and I was getting the only thing that would help me until all the doctors just clammed up and he did it all they started everything but I mean can't blame everybody else except for the attic themselves because at the end of the day we make the choice and I know how it is it's now impossible to say no but there's a big difference in the way I use it injected and have never OD'd on Fentanyl and how people around me use it to get high and they're dying left and right take it responsibly and it'll do what it's supposed to do take advantage of it and it flips sides on you and it takes you

Just as big of a problem is the mindset that law enforcement can arrest and punish our way out of the opiate problem. We've been trying that for over two generations now and the "war on drugs" has been a failure. Everyone in the system makes money off the misery. From lawyers to treatment, the whole lot makes fortunes on the treatment and the problem.
